Beezer – URBIS ‘Home Grown’ Interviews

As part of the ‘Home Grown’ , Story of UK Hip Hop Exhibition Interviews, Greens caught up with pioneering documentary photographer Andy ‘ Beezer’ Beeze. Talking to Beezer ahead of his busy UK book launch dates down at Urbis, he took time out to discuss the contributions he made to the exhibition and gave us an update on what the man behind the black and whites, is doing from his Tokyo base today.

Currently, Beezer is in the Uk promoting his book, Wild Dayz, which is a fantastic collection of photographs historically documenting the British interpretation of the infectious US Hip Hop culture which hit the UK in the 80’s.
It was a great pleasure to talk to Beezer about his involvement in the Bristol scene back in the early days, when he documented the beginnings of the Wild Bunch who went on to influence and support the likes of Soul 2 Soul and Massive Attack, which brought such rich musical contributions to the UK scene.

Beezer told Unity Radio that this was the first time he had seen his works in such a scale and that it has been really exciting to see them. The impact that they make is definately worth experiencing first hand, so if you havent visited the exhibition yet, then make sure you get down.
Here is Beezer….
